facebook has discontinued their slim version of websites due to some unknown reasons. facebook Lite was for those facebook users who had slow internet connection. It was designed in such a way that it stripped-down its bandwidth-intensive applications and provided the user with basic facilities, like status updates and photos. facebook lite was though not for mobile users, they had a different domain for that, but it was vastly used by those mobile users who preferred full browsing on their mobile browser when they are on the move. So instead of accessing mobile version of facebook, the lite version seemed to have provided good balance between the content and the bandwidth. No reason for shutting down the lite version was stated by facebook. Now all the traffic to lite.facebook.com automatically redirects to facebook.com The message posted on the official facebook page simply states that facebook is no longer supporting facebook Lite and that they have learned a lot from testing the slimmed-down site. Lets see if facebook has got any plans to enhance the mobile version of their website, or launch any other facebook version which consumes low bandwidth. Not sure if facebook really attracted some users with their “lite” version but it sure is an addon which is worthy for most of the internet users.
