Recently, it was not possible to play videos from facebook on an iPad, as there were several compatibility issues. Few days ago, I heard some rumors that facebook might start serving videos by using HTML5 technology, turns out that they have employed MP4 to convert videos to fit iPad. As Flash wasn’t supported for iPad, this move was inevitable. The lack of flash on iPad was not only felt strongly while trying to play videos on iPad, but also it was the major factor behind the unavailability of major flash-based games on facebook, like famrville, poker etc. Here’s a screenshot of iPad which is showing the error that facebook users on iPad used to get while trying to play a video:
But now after facebook has made some special changes just for iPad, the new result would be like this:
Now when you’ll play any video on an iPad, it will pop right out of the app and would run in full screen. Closing the video would then take you back to the application. And this new initiative by facebook doesn’t help iPad users only, but its also useful for those who are using QuickTime or .h264 compatible devices to access facebook videos. They should be able to view the facebook videos too without any hurdles. Want an app developed for iPad solely for your clients or user community? We can help you to develop an app that would not only run smoothly on iPad and other devices, but would also be available for different social networks, like facebook.
