Yet another great feature from Google – Google TV has been rumored to make its away among the best cloud computing services available online. It was announced before that Google is currently working in collaboration with Intel and Sony to release this service. According to some new sources, Google TV is a box that will be used by daisy chaining the HDMI port with an existing cable or satellite set-top box or DVR – which means that you’ll be paying Google to purchase an extra box from (like TiVo) them that will be attached to your cable or satellite and would provide some add-on feature to you for your viewing pleasure. Now add-on features like what? Lets take a look:
- Ease of setup and interface with existing components. It needs to either be able to act as a drop-in replacement like TiVo can, or be used in tandem with the existing features. Switching back and forth between devices will be a huge turn-off.
- Recording and playback options, also possibly an onboard EPG like TiVo, the Boxee Box, Sony’s Playstation 3 and the XBox 360.
The Internet experience needs to be as good as or better than competitive offering, like services currently being offered by TiVo and PS3, or they won’t be able to make most out of the competition. The Google TV device is expected to be sold in the market with the price tag of $299 at retail only!
