Nick O’ Neill shared a great post today that Facebook.com is currently testing a new administration for Facebook Fan pages. One of the features Facebook.com is considering is the ability for Facebook Fan page designers and Facebook Page developers to change the name of their Facebook pages. There are too many administrators who had published their pages with wrong names but still have good amount of fan base on Facebook, these administrators have been dreaming of such options where they can change the name of their Facebook page names.
As per Inside Facebook, this feature will be accessible to a small number of page administrators who can edit the name under “Basic Information” tab. I have yet to figure out what will be the criteria for choosing page administrators who will be allowed to change Facebook page names that they manage, however as soon as I hear something I will update my fans and followers.
WHY AM I NOT ABLE TO CHANGE FACEBOOK PAGE NAME
It’s my observation that Facebook was hesitant to provide this feature to Facebook page designers and administrators, because they were under the impression that organizations will build large generic pages and then switch the page topic at the last minute.
WHO CAN CHANGE THE FACEBOOK PAGE NAME IN TRIAL PERIOD
As I mentioned above that not all administrators and pages have access to this feature (change page name). Currently Facebook will be giving this option to limited pages with few fans because of the reason I just mentioned above. There will be other improvements as well like new improved layout, though the most significant change is the ability for page administrators to change Facebook Fan page name, which many people have been asking on dozens of forums, blogs. Do you see a need for changing your Facebook Fan Page name?
