Oracle has filed suit against Google over its most popular operating system Android. In a statement from Oracle rep release early today, he stated “In developing Android, Google knowingly, directly and repeatedly infringed Oracle’s Java related intellectual property. This lawsuit seeks appropriate remedies for their infringement” Last year in 2009, Oracle acquired Sun Microsystems along with its most important technology and platform JAVA. Android competes with Java as an operating system for cellular telephones and mobile devices. And android stack employs Java apps running on a Java-based framework. Oracle said in lawsuit that Android and Android SDK infringes its patents, and it wants to see some cash for its unwitting involvement in the mobile Operating System’s success. Google has the knowledge about these patents since Oracle hired several Sun Java engineers. Apart from patent violations by Google, Oracle is also claiming copyright infringement; i.e. Java code is copyrighted and Google has used it without any license or permissions. Oracle is also asking that all copies of java related work be destroyed. Do you think Oracle wants to bring an end to Android as it stands if, in fact, the OS uses Java code? A recent study about the Mobile Internet traffic shows the most popular destination of mobile internet users. According to the analysis, almost 60% of the time on mobile internet is spent on social networking websites, like facebook and twitter. Only 14% of mobile Internet time on portals, the second most popular category, and rest is a mix traffic of Emails, general web browsing etc. “The disparity of time spent between social networking and the next category, portals, which account for 59.83 and 13.65 percent of time spent respectively, is a vivid illustration of the impact social networking has on Mobile Internet traffic in a given week” – Vice President of Marketing Evan Neufeld. The study also found out something interesting about the mobile traffic – The social networking websites like facebook and MySpace who have got their mobile applications on every popular mobile OS, these apps drive more trffic towards their website than the normal computers. Which means that these days, people prefer to use social media networks from their cellphones instead of their computer. Here are some figures from the report:
Those social networks or websites who have an immense user base but are getting low traffic should consider this report seriously. Maybe the problem lies in the fact that they are not keeping up with the latest trends in the world of Internet, which is producing related apps for the convenience of your users. And if you think thats the problem with your company and interesting in getting an app developed which would be cross-platform on all major mobile OS, then contact our team of mobile developers here by simply submitting a brief quote. Our team will then contact you with a proposal at their earliest.

The biggest movie rental service in USA – Netflix has seemed to survive the recession market quite well, and now they have posted their profits of around 100 Million USD last year. Their competitor – Blockbusters however on the other end had to file a bankruptcy and shut down its business. They have closed more than 500 of their branches last year which has given Netflix physical DVD shipment quite a boost! According to a report,
Netflix (Nasdaq: NFLX – News) thrived during the recession, growing subscribers and net profits by 31% and 40% respectively in 2009. With reduced competition from Blockbuster (NYSE: BBI – News), which closed 567 net U.S. stores last year, Netflix’s physical DVD business should continue to expand. Online streaming is becoming mainstream; 48% of Netflix’s 12.3 million subscribers streamed at least 15 minutes of video last quarter.
Lets see how far they can get in this digital world where downloading pirated movies and TV shows are considered better than renting or purchasing it. If they are looking for more growth of their company, they should consider to start their streaming services for other countries too besides USA. This could prove to be a fortune for them because the future world media is already sold to streaming services.

A study from OpenID shows that those website which allows third party logins to their websites, have reported that users generally prefer their Google accounts and then facebook accounts for temprorary login purpose. This shows what kind of social networking platform is more dominant on the web. The OpenID company, JanRain shows that in many segments like media, retail and technology, Facebook outstrips other authentication services from different social media websites by a big margin. Here’s the infographic details about the study:
As you can see from the figure that Google currently dominates the market-share of OpenID logins and have captured 38.5% of the total market. While facebook – second dominant on the pie chart have managed to capture the 23.1% of the rest. As for retail websites – where you need to provide an online account of any service of your choice to authenticate yourself, facebook holds more than 40% of the market, followed by Yahoo Inc who has outclassed even Google on retail websites.
Thought the figures shown here are quite promising for facebook and Google, we would have to wait a bit more and see what other services might be launched in the future. Maybe any lacking service, like twitter might lead facebook later – all depends on what other services they have got to offer their users!

All you need to know about Keywords
If you are following my series of blogs related to “keywords” you would remember that I had introduced a few basic terms affiliated with keywords. In this article I would be discussing on one of the most key factors that is implementation of these keywords and their usage. One thing that must be kept in mind at all times is that the website and the content on it are for the users i.e. humans, you should be very careful that your web content looks written for users and not for search engines.
Keyword density is vital in the quality for maintain the quality of your content, in fact it is the actual measuring element that creates a balance between the content being keyword oriented and natural. The keywords that you have selected should be scattered all along the website, if a few pages of your website are heavily filled with keywords and few are empty of it then you have certainly done a bad job and search engines may drop your page ranks. Of the selected keywords choose the one that you plan to give attention the most and then make sure that particular word is repeated the most.
As mentioned in my previous article, the title and description tag are very important. It is generally suggested that you use as many keywords as possible in the tile but then again its good practice that you form a proper sentence rather than just a mere combination of keywords. I will explain this with the help of an example; Title for a website that provides facebook applications: “Facebook Guru-Facebook Application-Widget-Connect Developer-Facebook-Bebo-Friendster Applications Development-Developers-Services Company” This is the worst possible case, looking at the title only creates a very negative impression, the webmaster has “keyword stormed” the title and as a result it looks haphazard and sluggish.
Here is another title of a similar company: “Facebook application developers – Gurus of Facebook application development”.
Just by the look of it you get a complete overview of the website, the company is a facebook application development company and they claim to be the gurus of it.
Note that although the first example had a lot of keywords but the title did not made much sense, nor did it delivered a message and most important of all it was not concentrating on a single (but strong) keyword. There are many more things to learn about the implementation of keywords which I will discuss in my later blogs.
