Apple bans the word Android from its AppStore

The Apple Company likes to stay on top, and perhaps now they are being threatened and pressured by the increasing growth of the Android market, maybe this is the reason why they have banned the word ‘android’ from an applications description.

The matter came to surface when the “Flash of the genius” application’s developer Tim Novikoff submitted his application to the AppStore and mentioned his achievements for the application in the Android market, it is obvious that Apple didn’t like this move; they didn’t reject the Application all together but sent a note which stated the following:

  • “During our review of your application, we found that you application contains inappropriate or irrelevant platform information in the application description and/or release notes sections.
  • While your application has not been rejected, it would be appropriate to remove ‘finalist in Google’s Android Development Challenge!’ from the application description.
  • Please log into itunes connect to make appropriate changes to the application description now to avoid an interruption in the availability of Flash of Genius: SAT Vocab 2.2 on the iphone AppStore”.

Android is slowly but surely creeping up to Apple, but Apple should stand stead fast as they are the older Company and the users have come to trust them over the long years. If Apple continues to indulge in such matters then through these they are bringing the attention towards Android and not away from it. So, Apple should remain confident and run their business as they were doing prior to the arrival of android.

Apps Get Better Ratings Because Of the Change in Ranking Algorithm of Apple

It seems as though Apple has made a couple of changes to their ranking algorithm, this modification has lead to some of the applications to surface in one of the top names of ratings. The changes began to show on the 14th of April when some of the top notch developing companies of iphone applications noted that Facebook had suddenly reached the top after being in the #20 and #30 for more than a year.

It is expected that these changes are due to the fact that the algorithm has taken a 360 change in the way it ranks its applications. The algorithm previously depended upon the amount of downloads of a particular application, but with the appraisal of Facebook and other applications, it looks like the algorithm is now preferring the applications which have been used the most. Facebook of course is among those which is being opened and used by more than 39.5 million users on a daily business. It is as of yet early to decide exactly what kind of changes have been made but the above mentioned gives us a rough idea. Other applications that have also jumped from a lower number to a much higher one in ranking are:

  • Pandora was in the twenties for the last two months but has now miraculously moved up to #6.
  • Netflix was hovering over #30 and 50 but has now jumped up to #19.

The changes in the algorithm have its advantages as well as its setbacks. The change will enable the users to get better applications because the developer will try their best to create a application that is innovative and engaging so that their applications is used more and more. The considerably older applications will have a chance to make their mark in the AppStore through their large database. The setbacks on the other hand will be for the new comers, the applications which have don’t have the upper hand of a larger data base will not be able to make the top of the list. It is anticipated that the algorithm will also consider how many times the application is being deleted, this means that the users can get a release from the applications that lure the users into downloading but are not good enough to keep.

IPhone Mini- Are the Rumours True?

iPhone MiniThe rumours of a new ‘mini’ version of the iphone have been going around for quite a while now. Recently both Bloomberg and Wall street Journal have also presented the idea that it is going to get onto the market pretty soon.

The new mini iphone is said to be half the size of the iphone4, this of course means that the users will not get to view the same quality as the ones of the original iphone, but this feature is not that bad because the price also is said to be reduced to half as much as the original price. So, if the price is less then automatically the users will have to compromise on some of the other things. It is being anticipated that this change from Apple of the ‘mini’ iphone is because of the competition with the Android. The iphones are specific and have a specified design and can only be bought by the upper class people because of its high pricing, an Android device on the other hand has many partners who are using it as their operating system, this vastness gives Android a upper hand because it can be bought both by the middle class as well as the high class, depending upon the kind of gadget.

We have yet to see if the iphone mini will have the same functionality as its parent gadgets or not. Many of the sources say that they have already seen the prototype of the mini and that it will include all the features that have been a trend in the iphone, if this is the case then the iphone mini is sure to appeal to many of the customers who weren’t able to buy the iphone previously because of the price barrier. As mentioned some sources are stating that the mini is already made but the reason of it not being released into the market yet is because of the fact that it is not known yet if it will support the high technology that has to be implemented in it.

As of yet this is all the information that is available in context to the mini iphone, it is not yet known when and where the iphone mini will be released, or as a matter of fact if it will be released or not, because the CEO of Apple Steve Jobs has not yet commented on any mini version of the iphone.

Iphone 5- What Is To Be Expected?

It’s a smart phone, and so much more. Apple has till date come up with 4 versions of the iphone, and they never

seem to disappoint us in their functionality. It’s been almost a year since the release of iphone 4 and the users

are already waiting anxiously for June so that they can get their hands on the newer and better version of the

iphone.

Apple just recently released the ipad 2 which has hit the markets with a boom. The sales were bigger than

anticipated and they are getting higher by the hour. Apple is a favorite for anybody who is a gadget freak or

keeps their tech style up to date. Unlike it’s others competitors Apple provides its customers with a sleek design

as well as high end functionality. It is a must have for any and every tech savvy person.

The iphone 5 is expected to hit markets in late June or early July (that’s when apple likes to release its

iphones). We are the ones who are sitting outside the wall of the Apple enterprise and don’t know what is going on

inside, so let us guess on what surprises the upcoming iphone could have for us, and also what we want it to have.

  • The iphone 4 came armed with the face time feature which was among the features which were mostwanted. Now the iphone customers want more, they want to connect and view their friends and family not only via

    wifi but also through 3G. This element should be one of Apple’s top priorities.

  • Apple is known for upgrading their battery life with every new version. Last time with iphone 4 we sawthat it had 40% more talk time as compared to iphone 3, and so we hope that Apple will continue this trend

    throughout and deliver us a faster and better iphone.

  • A little disappointment was faced when iphone 4 didn’t come equipped with a version of 64GB card.Iphone users have a lot to do with their iphone and so need a lot more memory. We are eager to see what Apple will

    give us in terms of memory.

  • The buzz has it that the new iphone will have A5 processor like the ipad 2 and that this processorwill be paired with a 1 GHz ram and a cortex A9. The processor speed and the ram will give the developers a chance

    to do a lot with their applications.

  • We were pleased, very pleased when the iphone 4 came with a 5 megapixel camera along with a led flash.Now we want more, iphone lovers now expect an 8megapixel camera which will take their photography experience to

    another level.

  • The voice control of iphone is great, but we want it to be the greatest. The people out there areexpecting that their iphone will have such a technology which lets them dictate their emails and messages with

    ease and give them and their fingers a break from the very tiring act of typing.

  • We want biometric! The iphone has only one option for phone lock and that is through the password. Wewant Apple to implement the ‘swipe your finger and unlock’ choice with the new iphone 5 too.
  • Probably the biggest setback of all the iphones is that the home screen can’t really be effectivelycustomized. The iphone is a superb gadget and the users expect to be able to customize their home screen according

    to their taste. There is some chance that Apple will realize their customers’ demands and fulfill them.

  • The iphone is a brilliant device- but it is getting boring with the same sleek black color. Theantenna problems of the iphone 4 are solved and we are now looking forward to a white phone exterior which will

    give us some sort of variety.

 

Apple is a leading corporation in the market today and it has proven time and time again that they can crush their

competition very easily. They offer their users an experience which no one else can with every new technology. Let

us all sit tight and see what new features Apple comes up with in their iphone 5. Once that’s released we can start

talking about iphone 6!
